Everything You Need to Know for Your Class10 Science Exam
Stop Everything! Read This Before Your Science Exam
Last-Minute Strategy That Actually Works
Listen, This is Important
Your Science board exam is in a few days. You have studied hard. You know the concepts. But here is the truth: knowing the answer is not enough. You need to write it the right way to get full marks.
Every year, thousands of students lose 15-20 marks not because they did not know the answer, but because they made small, avoidable mistakes in presentation.
This guide will help you avoid those mistakes. Read carefully. Follow exactly. Score better.
⚡ Physics: The "Unit & Diagram" Warning
Let me tell you about a student named Rohan. He solved a numerical perfectly. His calculation was correct. His formula was right. But he wrote "Resistance = 5" instead of "Resistance = 5 Ω".
He lost 0.5 marks. That does not sound like much, right? But across 6-7 numericals, that becomes 3-4 marks. That could be the difference between 85% and 88%.
The Physics Rules You MUST Follow
Rule #1: Always Write the Unit
- Not just "Current = 2" → Write "Current = 2 A (Ampere)"
- Not just "Power = 100" → Write "Power = 100 W (Watt)"
- Not just "Resistance = 10" → Write "Resistance = 10 Ω (Ohm)"
If there is no unit in your final answer, you lose marks. Every single time.
Rule #2: Label Every Part of Your Ray Diagram
When drawing ray diagrams for mirrors or lenses:
- Label the Principal Axis
- Label F (Focus)
- Label C (Centre of Curvature)
- Label P (Pole)
- Mark the Object clearly
- Mark the Image with a dotted line if virtual
- Use arrows to show direction of light rays

Chemistry: The "Balanced Equation" Rule
Here is a harsh truth: An unbalanced chemical equation earns you zero marks.
It does not matter if you got the reactants right. It does not matter if you named the products correctly. If your equation is not balanced, the examiner will give you zero.
The Chemistry Rules That Save Marks
Rule #1: Balance Every Chemical Equation
Wrong: Na + H₂O → NaOH + H₂
Right: 2Na + 2H₂O → 2NaOH + H₂
Check: Are atoms equal on both sides? Sodium (2=2), Hydrogen (4=4), Oxygen (2=2). Yes? Good. Move on.
Rule #2: Always Mention Physical States
Never write:
CaCO₃ → CaO + CO₂
Always write:
CaCO₃(s) → CaO(s) + CO₂(g)
The states matter:
- (s) = solid
- (l) = liquid
- (g) = gas
- (aq) = aqueous (dissolved in water)

Biology: The "Keyword" Secret
CBSE examiners have a marking scheme. In that scheme, there are specific keywords they look for. If your answer has those keywords, you get marks. If not, you might lose marks even if your answer is "correct" in general.
Keywords That Examiners Want to See
Example: How Keywords Change Your Marks
Question: Explain how plants lose water.
Weak Answer (2/3 marks):
"Plants lose water through their leaves when it is hot."
Strong Answer (3/3 marks):
"Plants lose water through transpiration. Water evaporates from the stomata present on the leaves. This process is faster when temperature is high."
Notice the difference? The keywords "transpiration" and "stomata" earn you the full marks.
Biology Writing Strategy
- Read the question carefully - What process is it asking about?
- Think of the scientific term - What is the technical name?
- Use that keyword in your first line - Make it obvious to the examiner
- Add supporting details - Explain the process in 2-3 sentences
- Draw a diagram if asked - Label everything clearly
⏰ The "Golden Hour" Strategy: Your Final 24 Hours
Tomorrow is your exam. What should you do today? What should you NOT do?
- Go through your formula sheets (Physics)
- Revise important chemical equations (Chemistry)
- Read through your keyword list (Biology)
- Focus on 3-mark and 5-mark questions
- Practice writing complete answers
- Time yourself
- Draw 2-3 important diagrams for each subject
- Label them properly
- This is easy marks and builds confidence
- Quick look at important points
- Do NOT start new topics
- Do NOT stay up late
- Sleep by 10:30 PM latest
✓ DO This Today
- Revise what you already know
- Practice important diagrams
- Solve a few previous year questions
- Sleep for 7-8 hours
- Stay calm and positive
✗ DON'T Do This Today
- Start learning new chapters
- Panic if you find gaps
- Stay up late cramming
- Compare with friends
- Overthink or stress
✍️ Presentation Tips That Earn Extra Marks
Your handwriting does not need to be beautiful. But your answer needs to be easy to read. The examiner has hundreds of papers to check. Make their job easy, and they will reward you.
? Presentation Checklist for Every Answer
You Are Ready for This
You have studied for months. You know the concepts. You have solved the questions. Now you just need to present your knowledge properly.
Remember these three things:
1. Physics: Write units, label diagrams
2. Chemistry: Balance equations, mention states
3. Biology: Use keywords, underline them
Do not panic. You have got this. Go into that exam hall with confidence. Read the questions carefully. Write neatly. Show your work. And trust your preparation.
All the best for February 25th. Make us proud! ?
